"How I met Jiro" by Chloé Jafé (Signed)
The final chapter of the French artist Chloé Jafé’s trilogy is an ode to the fallen Osaka. In this city, the third largest in the country, Jafé has travelled extensively in the district of Nishinari, a district erased from tourist guides that attracts a population mainly made up of men, mostly over 760 years old. There she met and photographed homeless people, transvestites, retirees from criminality and those rejected by capitalism who preferred to hide there rather than face the shame of being fired.

Over the years, Chloé Jafé has developed a style that is both visual and documentary, and viscerally personal. From her 7 years of immersion in Japan (2013-2019), Chloé Jafé has brought back images in steely black and white, sweaty and harsh, tender and fierce, revealing an unprecedented vision of an opaque country.
Her trilogy, comprising the chapters "I give you my life", "Okinawa mon amour" and "How I met Jiro", highlights the little-known and subversive aspects of an archipelago where modesty is de rigueur.
